Concepcion de la Vega is the capital of the province of Vega, it is a medium -sized city that is in the center of the Dominican Republic. The city is about 50 minutes from Santiago de Los Caballeros and 1h45 from Santo Domingo, the country's capital.
The economy is mainly based on agriculture, livestock and wood exploitation but also, to a lesser extent, on trade and industry.
Concepcion de la Vega is not a tourist town, the tourist centers of the region are Constanza and Jarabacoa who attract many local and foreign tourists who come to enjoy the freshness of the climate and the beauty of the landscapes.
The city is renowned for its carnival which is one of the most famous in the Dominican Republic.
