Las Terrenas and the Samana peninsula are one of the most beautiful regions of the Dominican Republic, miles of white sandy beaches (Coson, Bonita, Las Ballenas, Moron, El Limon...), some still pristine and wild to the delight of local and foreign tourists.

Tourism has developed strongly in this region. From a small fishing village in the 1980s with few foreign tourists (mainly French and Italian) it has become a tourist town with dozens of hotels, residences, villas for rent, apart-hotels and tourists from all over the world.

The construction of the highway has considerably reduced travel times between the south of the Dominican Republic and the Samana peninsula. Las Terrenas is located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic, about 2 hours from the capital Santo Domingo. Many inhabitants of the capital come to spend weekends, public holidays and vacations in Las Terrenas, either at the hotel or in their second homes.
