Santo Domingo - Dominican Republic Santo Domingo is the capital of the Dominican Republic. It is located on the Caribbean Sea, it was founded in 1496 by Bartholomew Columbus (Christopher Columbus' brother), along the Ozama River. She is known worldwide as the first European city. In 1990, the Colonial Zone, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Santo Domingo is the most populous city in the Caribbean, the largest and most developed of the Dominican Republic. This is the country's economic hub, many national and international companies have their main offices here.
Santo Domingo has a range of amenities and attractions, especially history. The first buildings in America, as the first cathedral of America, the Ozama Fortress, the first fort in the Americas, and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, the first university in the New World.
