Bayahibe is a city in the east of the Dominican
Republic, located 10 minutes of La
Romana, on the Caribbean coast. Founded as a rural population of fishermen
in 1874 by Juan Brito and his family, the city is now a major tourist destination
in the Dominican Republic with Playa Dominicus.
Bayahibe is famous for its white sand beaches, the beach is
one of the few beaches in the Caribbean which has awarded the blue flag. Bayahibe
is a starting point to visit the island of Saona, a small uninhabited island
with long beaches and superb natural beauty. At about 4 Kms ago Dominicus Beach,
another popular beach in the region.
Bayahibe is one of the best places for diving in the Dominican
Republic. In its territory there is the National Park East. In this ecosystem
can be seen, seagrass, mangroves, rocky shores, sandy beaches, rainforest, and
much more, including the lush coral reefs.
Bayahibe is a small tourist village, with about fifteen of hotels
and aparthotels.
Bayahibe is well situated for visiting the Caribbean coast of the Dominican
Republic (Santo Domingo, Juan Dolio, Alto de Chavon, Boca Chica), north-east
with Samana and Las Terrenas and the coast of coconut (Punta Cana - Bavaro).
The new highway between La Romana and Punta Cana closer Bayahibe to the rest
of the Dominican Republic and other tourism and ecotourism
activities on the island.

Things to see, to do in Bayahibe
Close to 10 diving clubs allow you to discover the flora and fauna of the
underwater Caribbean Sea, you can admire the gardens of coral reefs with many
varieties of fish (skates, moray eels, lobster, angel fish, turtles ... ),
corals, sponges, etc .... The clubs offer dives for all levels.
Fishing
For enthusiasts and lovers of deep sea fishing that can go fishing wahoo,
tuna and marlin.

The rose of Bayahibe
This flower also called Pereskia Quisqueyana is endemic to this region, it
is part of the cactus family. Endangered, it is now protected and preserved.
Cave del Puente

cave del Puente is located 3 kms from the park
entrance from east to Bayahibe. The trail is easy
to access. This cave has beautiful stalactites
and stalagmites. Do not forget the flashlight.

Catalina Island
Catalina Island is entirely pedestrian, it is located off La

Cave of Wonders (Cueva de las Maravillas)

The Cueva de las Maravillas
is located between La Romana and San
Pedro de Macoris, she was discovered in 1926. About 30% of the cave
is open to the public. Inside you will see stalactites, stalagmites and
some paintings Tainos. The visit of the Cave of Wonders is accompanied
by a tourist guide and takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
The visit is easy and convenient to all public. Note that it is forbidden
to take pictures to preserve the cave and paintings.
