Presentation of the hotel in Las Terrenas, Samana Peninsula
We stayed one night at Hotel
La Tortuga (Las Terrenas, Samana Peninsula) in July 2014.
This is a small hotel offering a dozen bungalows a few meters from
the beach and the center of Las Terrenas.
The hotel is well located and easy to find. At the "Pueblo
de los Pescadores" take the small street to the left (Avenue
of Italy) between aparthotel
Caribey and the Residence
Don Cesar then the first right.
The accommodation
in Las Terrenas is close to everything, beach, restaurants,
bars, colmados (grocery), nightclubs ... in a quiet and calm place.
Las Terrenas is a small tourist town in the beautiful province of
Samana, in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. There are beautiful
beaches all along the coast and some sightseeing as Haitises park
in Sabana de la Mar, Salto el Limon...
La Tortuga Las Terrenas
La Tortuga
is composed of a main building where the reception, bar and restaurant
and several small bungalows. Everything is arranged in the middle
of a well kept garden and around the pool.
The bungalows can accommodate up to 5 people, they are composed,
on the ground floor, a bedroom with a double bed and a small refrigerator,
and bathroom with shower. Upstairs there are three single beds.
They have air conditioning and ceiling fans.
They are decorated in a tropical style with wood, shells and pastel
colors.
The hotel in Las Terrenas has a private parking and guarded
night, wifi (free) is available in the restaurant, around the swimming-pool
and in the rooms.
Our review on the stay
We spent two nights in Las
Terrenas, the first night we stayed at La Tortuga. The bungalows
are nice, with a terrace with chairs and a small table. The master
bedroom is quite large with a small fridge (two small bottles of
water are provided on arrival). There is a kind of small hallway
with a closet and bathroom with shower and toilet.
Upstairs, a room with 3 single beds is accessed by a steep staircase.
The breakfast is basic but adequate with coffee, milk, bread, butter,
2 jams, fruits (banana, pineapple, melon depending on the season),
a glass of fresh juice and eggs and bacon.
Conclusion
La Tortuga is well located in Las Terrenas close to everything, the hotel is fine for a stay and to visit the Samana Peninsula. The bungalows are simple but adequate for a holiday in the Dominican Republic.

Small and friendly, the bungalows are rustic genres, but comfortable enough for a holiday. La Tortuga is close to everything, it is convenient.
