San Felipe de Puerto Plata (Puerto Plata only) is the biggest
tourist town on the northern coast of the Dominican
Republic. It was founded in 1502 as a continuation of the first Spanish
settlement in America and annually hosts thousands of tourists coming to stay
in the dozens of hotels
that occupy its banks and enjoy its beautiful and warm beaches.
The city is known as the Amber Coast because there are large deposits of this
stone and a museum with some of the most interesting specimens found.

The San Felipe Fortress
Vestige of the first city of Puerto Plata. The fortress is located at the end
