To go to Las Terrenas by leaving from the South of the Dominican Republic, you have to take the highway Santo Domingo - Samana.
By coming east (Punta Cana, Romana) the highway entrance is after the toll of the airport Las Americas. After the toll, it is necessary to take a road on the right parallel to the highway.
By coming from the capital it is necessary to stay on the left way of the highway (the entrance is on the left).
The highway Santo Domingo - Samana has 3 tolls. (46 + 148 + 175 pesos since 01/2011).
At the end of the highway take the Sanchez direction , the road is in good condition because it was recently redone (2010), then in the Sanchez village take the left towards in direction of Las Terrenas.
It is a small sinuous and narrow road, thus caution if you drive. A highway is in construction to move closer to Las Terrenas of the airport of Samana (opening in October 2011).
Count approximately 3 hours of route to join Las Terrenas since the airport Las Americas.
